Environmental Drilling
I'm currently an unemployed sonic driller. I started out core drilling, back in 1980 for a company called Joy Manufacturing. At the time, Joy was one of the largest core drilling companies in the world. Then around 1991, Joy got bought out, and I got laid off. Had a pregnant wife, and I needed a job. I moved to Dallas,Texas and went to work for Rone Engineers. Rone needed a core driller bad. They had a contract on the super conducting super collider and it required 100% core recovery. The rock in that part of Texas is a soft rock, grey limestone, grey shale. Real easy to wash that shale away. I always gave them 100% recovery. I was a core driller for Rone for about five years. Then Fugro South lured me away. With fugro, I was a geotechnical driller and environmental driller. No matter where I worked, I always did alot of core drilling. Worked for a couple of smaller outfits after Fugro. Sam's Engineering, Advanced Drilling, Terra Mar. Was working for Terra Mar when Ken Haig called me. Ken had sold his company, Advanced drilling, and went to work for WDC Exploration. By now, Ken and I had worked together thru three drilling companies over a period of around eight years. Both of us are old school core drillers. We're all about getting the job done. Not worried about politics. With WDC, I started out running a CME 1050. WDC doe's alot of environmental drilling. The first year I worked there, I did alot of core drilling with that CME 1050 for all of the other offices within WDC. Did some geotechnical drilling, and environmental drilling also, but mainly core drilling. Always been a core driller. Damn good core driller to boot. Core drilled down to 6000' axwl. Even did some 350' 12" core drilling up in alaska. Thats why, as a core driller. Sonic drilling and geotechnical drilling came easy to me.
Update
Bob is in no rush to go back to drilling. Trying to pick out the best position for me. After going thru the divorce from hell, two years ago. You can read about the divorce from hell, here. Regardless, Bob is a driller. Always will be, eventhough this is the longest stretch that I have ever gone thru without drilling. I did drill some postholes with a bobcat last week.:)
